Everyone has a favorite season; mine is spring. As I write this, we are in the week following Easter and May is just a couple of weeks away. I enjoy the temperature this time of year with the balance of cool mornings and warm afternoons. In my view, there is no better month in Michigan than the month of May. Ah! But there is one more reason this is such as special month. We will begin the month with the “Music Festival” on Sunday, May 3rd and end with “Hymn Sing” on Sunday, May 31st.  Now we have more reasons to enjoy May - it is a Musical Month!

On Sunday, May 3rd all of our church vocal and instrumental groups will sing and play during the traditional service (10:15 a.m.). I invite every one of you to join us in singing the beloved “Halleluiah” chorus from Handel’s “Messiah.”  The choir rehearses Thursday evenings 7:15 – 9:00 p.m. If you would like to join us for the Music Festival you may want to attend the Thursday rehearsals either at 8:00 p.m. to practice just the “Halleluiah” or come at 7:15 p.m. and practice all the music we will sing during Music Festival.

Sunday, May 31st is Hymn Sing Sunday, a favorite with our congregation.  You will have the opportunity to let us know your most beloved hymns and on Sunday, May 31st our church sanctuary will be filled with the spirit as we sing some of those chosen favorites!

Our lives have been difficult lately, but we can refresh our hearts and minds by praising God with a month full of music.
