Take Note - August 2019
It has been half a year since I started serving as director of music ministries at Central. I have been happy with all the people in our musical groups and the congregation of Central Reformed Church as a whole. I have enjoyed the excellent musicians in this area too. With these wonderful relationships, I started my musical activities smoothly, with meaningful and graceful rehearsals and services.
During summer time, our musical offerings during services have been fruitful with solo and ensemble vocal and instrumental music, and many people gathered to sing together on each Summer Choir Sunday. I have felt God's abundant blessings for us while experiencing many talented and dedicated people in music and education at Central.
Making a solid starting point for strong and healthy musical groups for our children and youth has always been one of my primary goals since my earliest days here at Central. Among many learning activities for our children, music is the one that we can enjoy throughout our whole lives and is most directly and critically connected to our worship services towards God's glory and our Christian life.
For our children and youth music program, I have suggested buying more educational musical instruments such as Orff instruments for our young musicians. Some of my plans for the overall music program will include adding an Instrumental Group for youth and adults and a new children's musical group, Joyful Noise, for fourth to eighth graders, on Thursday early evenings right before the adult hand bell choir rehearsal.
Hope all Central families have enjoyed this wonderful summer and will start getting ready for the coming new school and church year. As we have witnessed God's blessings and love for us, spending more time with our loved ones at home and in nature this summer, now we will have another blessed church year to praise and glorify God through the gift of music.
