July 2014
I enjoyed
the Area 7 Handbell Festival Conference in La Crosse, Wisconsin on June
19-22. This handbell festival has been a bi-annual event presented by the national organization,
Handbell Musicians of America. I have
seen how enthusiastically many of our church ringers have participated in this
event. Fund raising events and much
preparation made this event so meaningful and fruitful for them, and I
experienced it last week with them.
Personally
it was a great time for me to put myself in the ringers' shoes. To be an effective director for any type of
musical group, playing as one of the members under another director's baton should
be incredibly helpful. Music conferences
are one of those chances for music directors.
To see the happy faces and have a fun time together with fellow church
musicians are the bonuses adding to musical learning experiences.

We hope to have more new faces go and enjoy the next festival, which
will be held in Rochester, Minnesota in 2016!
